Our graduate admissions counselors are here to support you through the admissions process.

Getting Started

Graduate candidates are accepted on a rolling basis with new terms starting in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Rivier offers a streamlined admissions process鈥攕tandardized test scores are not required and there is no application fee.

Admissions Requirements

International applicants鈥攑lease visit聽International Admissions.

  • Official transcripts: Provide transcripts from each institution where you received degrees or course credit after high school/GED.
    • An official transcript showing the completion of your undergraduate degree and the date of degree conferral is required.
    • A transcript is considered 鈥渙fficial鈥 if it is sent directly to Rivier from the institution where the credit was earned. Official transcripts can be sent electronically using transcript sending services or by mail.
  • Transcript evaluation:聽Transcripts from schools, colleges, and universities outside of the United States must be evaluated by an agency approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluators or the Association of International Credential Evaluators. Full course-by-course evaluations are required.
  • Grade-point average:聽A聽minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 is expected for acceptance into our graduate programs. Applicants whose GPA falls below this minimum will be evaluated and may be considered for admission.

Nursing鈥擜dditional Requirements

  • A completed聽Course of Study Choice Form
  • A completed聽Practicum Form
  • Verification of active, unencumbered RN license(s)
  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • Evidence of successful completion of an undergraduate statistics course
  • Two years (full-time or equivalent) RN experience
  • Statement of Purpose. A Statement of Purpose is required for the MSN Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner; MSN Family Nurse Practitioner; MSN Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; and post-Master鈥檚 certificates in Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
    • This statement of purpose should be no more than one typed page in length and should share how this graduate track will help support you in meeting your professional goals.
  • RN-MS applicants who are seeking to enter the program as experienced registered nurses with associate degree preparation must submit a professional portfolio. The professional portfolio must document mastery of Bachelor of Science competencies. Contact the Admissions Office (admissions@rivier.edu) for additional information regarding the professional portfolio requirement.
  • Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner MSN and Post-Master鈥檚 Certificate applicants must show proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
