СÖíÊÓƵ recognizes that the creation of a positive learning experience includes attention to students’ health and wellbeing. We take strides to both accommodate and provide for student health needs. The Student Life department and the Residence Life staff—the typical first contacts for student concerns—are trained in both First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, and are knowledgeable about Redeemer’s available services as well as external community services.

Campus Safety

Some of our principal responsibilities are:

  • Patrol and surveillance of the campus buildings and grounds
  • Emergency response to medical and other emergencies
  • Administration of on-campus parking
  • Management of the University Key Control System

Wellness Centre

Renovated and expanded as of Fall 2024, the Wellness Centre is located on campus in Luther Court and provides physical, mental and emotional support services for all students at Redeemer.

Maintaining your physical and mental health is very important while living and studying as a student. The Wellness Centre is staffed 3 days a week by Nurse Practitioner and Director of Student Health and Wellness, Julie Kingma. Students can make appointments for any of their non-emergency health concerns, including cold/flu symptoms, skin concerns, pain, headaches, mental health concerns, medication renewals and other reasons.

СÖíÊÓƵis committed to helping students pursue good mental health. Redeemer’s Mental Health Case Manager, Karen Lyall, acts as a first point of contact and advocate for students seeking assistance. The Mental Health Case Manager coordinates various supports and services on campus and in the Hamilton community, and can aid students in setting up appointments with qualified Christian counsellors through the Wellness Centre.

Through a partnership with the , СÖíÊÓƵstudents are provided with up to 4 counselling sessions each academic year. After 4 sessions, students can continue at their own expense or through other coverage options that they have available. CCC counsellors see students right in our Wellness Centre.

Several times a year, the Wellness Centre hosts R|U Well Fairs to draw campus attention to the many ways that we focus on wellness at Redeemer. Many R|U Well events and seminars are done in partnership with departments across the university, as well as external partners. This is just one way in which СÖíÊÓƵhelps students thrive in the university setting.

Additionally, (a private small business) operates out of the СÖíÊÓƵAthletic Centre. Students who need physiotherapy or massage therapy services are welcome to connect with Origin and discuss their options.
