Admissions Requirements
Applicants for the Bachelor of Education degree program will be considered for admission based on the following requirements:
- A recognized bachelor鈥檚 degree from an accredited university. (Don鈥檛 have a degree yet? Visit Redeemer鈥檚 Programs page.)
- A minimum grade average of 70% (B-) in your last two years of undergraduate studies
- Evidence of some experience of working with children in a structured setting
The School of Education offers programs leading to basic qualification in two strands: Primary/Junior (K-6) and Junior/Intermediate (4-10). In order to qualify for the Junior/Intermediate strand, applicants must possess at least six courses in an Intermediate Teaching Subject. The six courses completed must be of increasing difficulty and include at least one 300 or 400 level undergraduate course and a maximum of three 100-level courses. A C- average is required for these courses.

The six required undergraduate courses must increase in academic rigour and include at least one 300/400 level course. There is a maximum of three 100-level courses allowed.
The majority of the six required courses must be in Literature and Writing.
- Applicants are required to take a Grammar Aptitude Test (GAT) and an Oral Proficiency Test (OPT) prior to admittance into EDU-329 (required course for BEd candidates with a French teaching subject).
- Applicants possessing only a minor in French are advised that they should have immersion experience when considering French as a teaching subject.
At least one Canadian Geography course is required.
Courses must be those offered through Kinesiology or Physical Education.聽 Two courses in Health Studies are allowed.
At least one Canadian History course is required, but two are recommended.

This teaching subject is for candidates who are interested in and eligible to teach Catholic Religious Education in Catholic schools. Generally speaking, a demonstrated commitment to the Catholic Church is a requirement for such employment.
Three different types of Sciences are required in the 6-course sequence.
- Minimum of four undergraduate courses must be from two of Biology, Chemistry or Physics.聽
- Maximum of two undergraduate courses may be from STEM Skills, Earth/Space Science, Neuroscience, Zoology, Health Science or Computer Science.

Language Requirements
All students are required to be proficient in the English language.聽 Students are required to hold a degree from an accredited English medium university in an English-speaking country, with a minimum of two years of full-time study at that university.聽 Students who hold a degree outside of this requirement need to complete an English proficiency test:

- IELTS聽band score of 7.0
- CAEL聽test score of 70
International transcripts must be submitted through for a course-by-course evaluation.

Christian faith is not a requirement in order to apply to this program, however candidates assent to being educated within the context of Redeemer鈥檚 Christian perspective.聽
On campus housing is reserved for undergraduate students only.聽 All bachelor of education students need to find housing off campus.
You are able to apply for our program as a transfer student from another accredited university.聽 Having said that, transfer students will only be eligible for a spot in the program if space is allowed after all other direct applicants have been considered.聽 Our program is quite competitive, so there is no guarantee of being offered a spot to transfer in.聽 Also given the unique cohort-style scheduling of our program, transfer students will likely need to take part in at least 3 semesters at 小猪视频to meet all of our requirements.
On the application, you will be asked to provide the names and contact information of two individuals who are familiar with your volunteer experience and/or are able to describe your skills and personal qualities that would make you a suitable candidate for the Bachelor of Education program. Each reference will be emailed a secure online form to fill out and submit on your behalf. Once they submit, it will be automatically added to your application.
In order for transcripts to be considered official, they will need to be requested from your guidance office and/or Registrar to be sent directly to Redeemer鈥檚 Admissions office.聽 We accept transcripts via mail (小猪视频 Admissions, 777 Garner Rd E, Ancaster, ON, L9K 1J4) or email (admissions@redeemer.ca).聽 Students who received a high school diploma or post-secondary degree from an international university will need to have their transcript submitted through World Education Services (WES) for a course-by-course evaluation.
